McElroy University online lectures launch this month

McElroy University is now offering the classroom lecture portion of its Operator Qualification classes online, allowing students to spend less time in the classroom and more time in the shop working hands-on with McElroy equipment.

The online lecture is a prerequisite that will apply to all Small-, Medium- and Large-Diameter Operator Qualification classes taken at McElroy. This promotes instructional consistency and eliminates over duplication of introductory material. It also saves money by reducing time away from the job or office. Each Small- and Medium-Diameter class will now take two days instead of two-and-a-half days and all classes will provide students with increased hands-on time.

Once students register for a class, they are given access to the three online modules:

Introduction to McElroy Resources, Jobsite Safety & Setup and Introduction to PE Pipe & Pipe Fusion. Students will complete the modules prior to hands-on training and testing at McElroy University.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

How long does it take to complete the online lecture?
About 30 minutes for each module for a total of about 90 minutes to two hours.

Will students be tested on the online material?
Yes. The material covered online is part of the written test for the class. The online material will be reviewed prior to, and reinforced during the hands-on, instructor-led training.

Is/will this be available in other languages?
Ideally and eventually yes, but there is no timeline for that.

Is there an extra cost for the modules?
No. The online modules are included in the cost of tuition.

Can I take the online modules only?
Yes. In the near future, these modules, along with others, will be made available as stand-alone training.

What if I don’t have access to the Internet?
These classes can be taken via any connected device (PC, tablet, phone), but if someone truly has no access whatsoever, they need to contact us ahead of time so we can make arrangements for them to come a day early and we will provide them with the resources they need to take the online modules.
