Meet your January/February Champion of Fusion!

Bold text reading McElroy Champions of Fusion appears in the center, surrounded by several large black pipes extending outward on a black and green background.
A green fusion machine joins two large black plastic pipes in a field with stacks of similar pipes in the background. The ground is grassy with remnants of snow and harvested corn stalks.

Congratulations to Clint Black, McElroy’s first monthly Champion of Fusion!

Clint is an Estimator and Project Manager for Dave O’Mara Contractor, Inc. Recently, his company fused 3,500 feet of eight-inch HDPE DR-11 pipe for the town of Sellersburg, Indiana.

The project, “Ohio Avenue Water Main Extension,” was designed by Jacobi, Toombs and Lantz, Inc. of New Albany, Indiana. Crews replaced an existing four-inch PVC water line and created a loop for the town’s system.

With one operator, O’Mara fused all the pipe with its Rolling 412 and a PolyHorse® in about six days.

All of the joints on the project were recorded with a DataLogger®.

Once the pipe was fused, it was installed via horizontal drilling. Following testing and disinfection, the existing service on the old water main will be transferred over to the new eight-inch HDPE.

All services will be connected with saddles, fused using a McElroy Sidewinder®.

Stacks of black plastic pipes are arranged on green metal supports next to a rural road. Traffic barrels and construction equipment are visible in the background on a sunny day.

Clint will receive a McElroy-themed swag bag, and he’ll be entered to win a trip to InFusion 2023! Congratulations, Clint!

March’s Champions of Fusion competition is now underway. Vote for your favorite photos, or submit your own fusion stories and photos – including McElroy equipment, of course – and you too could be crowned a Champion of Fusion!
