TULSA, OK – McElroy Manufacturing, the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of thermoplastic fusion equipment, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with thermoplastic valve and pipe manufacturer Asahi/America, Inc.
Asahi/America is a Lawrence, Massachusetts-based manufacturer and supplier of thermoplastic fluid flow and air handling solutions for industrial, environmental, high purity, and commercial applications.

This partnership will provide a tool fleet able to butt or socket weld single and double wall pipe diameters ranging from 20 – 125mm (1/2” – 4 ½”) for socket fusion, and 20 – 630 mm (1/2” – 24”) for butt fusing thermoplastic materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and high-density polyethylene.
In addition, it will include the launch of an online welding certification and Learning Management System for contractors and installers who will be operating the equipment. This program is expected to come online in early 2024.
Asahi/America’s Welding and Standards Manager Joe Poniatowski says, “This new relationship with McElroy will bring Asahi/America’s weld program to a new level. The McElroy team has been very instrumental in developing a full tool offering for Asahi as well as the new learning system for Asahi’s pipe systems. We will continue to develop new learning modules, i.e., QA/QC weld inspection for all of our materials, double-contained piping installation/welding, hot air welding for our thermoplastic duct systems, and more.”
