McElroy expands access to Inspection App

Serving equipment owners and operators has always been rooted in McElroy’s commitment to quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

That same philosophy has guided the evolution of the McElroy Equipment Inspection Program, which has grown from a channel partner–focused offering into a more accessible and powerful tool for the broader industry.

A construction worker wearing a hard hat and safety vest uses a tablet mounted on a vehicle, interacting with a digital interface on the screen at an outdoor industrial site.

Originally launched as an initiative designed primarily for McElroy’s channel partners, early versions of the digital inspection app were limited in their scope and only available through the DataLogger®. But as technology evolved, a new version of the app was introduced, making it accessible across web browsers, smartphones, and tablets.

But over time, interest from equipment owners and end users steadily increased. While the app’s capabilities expanded — including features such as rental fleet management and the ability to inspect not only McElroy equipment but virtually any asset — it remained largely geared toward McElroy’s distributor network.

Recognizing these challenges — and in direct response to feedback from channel partners — McElroy made a significant shift. Channel partners expressed that enabling their customers to perform their own inspections would allow them to focus more on delivering parts, service, and support.

In response, McElroy opened access to the inspection program by making the required training course publicly available through its website.

Today, the McElroy Equipment Inspection App is accessible to a much wider audience. End users can now enroll in the McElroy University Inspection module at any time, complete the course at their own pace, and unlock the app upon completion. New users who do not yet have a McElroy ID can easily create one during the learning management system (LMS) registration process. Channel partners continue to have access to the training at no cost, while end users can enroll for a one-time fee per individual inspector.

Available via the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and web browsers, the app integrates seamlessly with DataLogger® 7 and Vault™ credentials, ensuring secure and convenient access across devices. Its functionality supports a wide range of uses, from rental fleet management to inspections required by companies or regulatory agencies.

The app offers two customizable modes to meet different operational needs. Rental Mode provides real-time visibility into equipment check-in and check-out status, helping streamline fleet logistics. Maintenance Mode enables users to track inventory and perform routine, annual, or compliance inspections. Guided workflows lead users step by step through each inspection, making it easier to identify potential issues and maintain equipment at peak performance.

With just a few taps, users can share inspection results and generate detailed reports that can be accessed or downloaded from anywhere. This added transparency and documentation gives operators confidence that their equipment meets McElroy’s high standards while improving overall efficiency and accountability.

By opening access to the Equipment Inspection Program, McElroy has removed barriers, empowered end users, and strengthened collaboration across its network. The result is a more flexible, scalable solution that supports both channel partners and equipment owners—ensuring every machine is ready for the job and built to perform.
