The McElroy Rolling 412 is fusing pipe in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan for a job involving the installation of a hydronic snow melt system. The Macomb Group is overseeing the project, which when complete, will help reduce the city’s need for plowing and shoveling in that area. Troy Taylor, with The Macomb Group’s Fusion Division, shared these photos.
The 8″ HDPE main pipe will transport a water and antifreeze mixture that has been heated through a centralized boiler to the smaller 3/4″ flexible pipe. This project is part of Kalamazoo’s master plan that recommends all new downtown development projects include snow melt sidewalk systems.
